Dierks Bentley on the meaning behind "Different For Girls"

"Different For Girls" is the second single off of Dierks's 2016 album Black, which is due out on May 27th via Capitol Nashville, and was written by J.T Harding and Shane McAnally, and is a little big different from what fans are used to hearing from Dierks. The Country star tells us that he chose this song as the second single because "the message says something that [he] haven't said before."

"'Different For Girls' definitely has a little bit of a different theme to it. Just looking at the world from a different perspective, a more mature perspective. I just think that there [are] some double standards that exist, and the song kind of draws attention to that. And at the same time, it recognizes that guys and girls do handle break-ups and heartaches a little bit differently."

And as for working with Elle King, actress and singer of the two-time Grammy nominated single "Ex's and Oh's," Dierks explains to us that collaborating with the 26-year-old was "fun" and that "she's one of [his] new favorite friends." He adds, "She's so self-deprecating and so funny, but at the same time she's so talented. I mean she's a great singer and we just had a blast together."
