A couple is literally trapped in paradise... do you feel sorry for them?

Being stranded on a tropical island probably sounds like paradise compared to being stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic--until it happens to you. A newly married couple from South Africa found that out the hard way after what was supposed to be a six-day honeymoon at a resort in the Maldives turned into something like a nightmare when all flights were shut down and they couldn't leave. “Everyone says they want to be stuck on a tropical island, until you’re actually stuck,” says 27-year-old Olivia De Freitas. “It only sounds good because you know you can leave.”The New York Timesreports that the Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives was still fully staffed even after Olivia and new husband Raul were the last guests--which meant they were waited on to an uncomfortable degree. "Their 'room boy' checks on them five times a day," the publication notes. "At breakfast, nine waiters loiter by their table. The diving instructor pleads with them to go snorkeling whenever they pass him by. Every night performers still put on a show for them in the resort’s restaurant." However, it seems the situation finally got resolved this past Sunday, when "they were given an hour’s notice by the embassy, communicating via WhatsApp, to pack their bags."
